August 20-22: Domes to Feather River Railroad Days
Our special train, made up entirely of private cars, will travel Emeryville to Portola, with stops to pick up passengers in Martinez, Davis, and Sacramento. When we leave Sacramento we join the former Western Pacific to continue our journey up the canyon of the Feather River to the rustic town of Portola, nestled high in the Sierras. Sleeping car passengers will stay aboard the train, which will be parked in the Feather River Railroad Museum. A variety of lodging for the day riders is available in Portola and surrounding communities. Feather River Railroad Days is in full swing this weekend, and it’s a town-size party. October 19: Cross-Country in the Grand Manner! The Silver Fleet will travel from Oakland to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles we’ll pick up the Colonial Crafts and head to Chicago on the route of the stars--the Southwest Chief. From Chicago we’ll travel to Washington DC on the Cardinal, arriving on October 24. Guests riding from Oakland will overnight in Los Angeles at the Biltmore, and all guests will overnight at the Palmer House in Chicago. October 29: Cross-Country Westbound in the Grand Manner! We’ll depart Washington DC on the Crescent, and enjoy spectacular fall colors as we head for New Orleans. Our private cars will be our hotel in this fabulous city, as we enjoy Halloween in the French Quarter before resuming our journey to Los Angeles and Oakland. We’ll arrive Los Angeles on November 3, and Oakland on November 4. Stay aboard the train in New Orleans; Oakland-bound guests will overnight at the Queen Mary while in Los Angeles. Includes all meals prepared aboard by our chef, complimentary bar, and hotel and transfers in Los Angeles for guests continuing on to Oakland.
